I think a side fringe just covering your eye with loose curls. This is quite a popular look; these sort of fringes look good done up in messy buns and pony tails as well. Many celebs have gone for this look including, Paris Hilton, Nicola (Girls Aloud) and Britney (when she had long hair of course!) and Peaches Geldof. Also layers look good!
Or have blunt bangs (as someone else just mentioned) with layered hair. This hair style would look good if the hair was backcombed or curled or just left straight. Nelly Furtardo and Lily Allen have this hair style.
I also think the messy hair looks good and there are products such as 'Bed Head' which you can use to gain the effect. This look would go with a side parting and a side fringe.
