It is indeed safe. I would suggest though that you purchase an airline seat for your baby & have him/her travel in a car seat. Most car seat models are approved for air travel and it is absolutely the safest thing to do. I do NOT recommend that you even attempt to travel with the baby on your lap or a sling. Take pacifiers, bottles, extra clothes and anything else you may need in a diaper bag (don't want to take a chance on baby luggage getting lost). Good luck!

Wow - brave. I didn't travel that far with my baby but in many ways it's an ideal time to do it. I found that as long as you're well equipped you can do anything. My friend once joked that when they're that age, they're just like having an extra handbag - it's not like you have to play games with them or read them books. Joking aside I don't know if you're breastfeeding or not. If you are then it should be very easy. If not then you will have to contact the airline to find out a way of bringing milk with you as at the moment there is a 150ml limit on all liquids carried on board (not enough for your baby basically). As for the air travel itself there should be no problems other than possibly crying when taking off and landing but I still get that and I'm 33. It's only for a few minutes and they'll soon forget it. If the country you are going to is hot you'll need to make sure baby stays well in the shade at all times. You can buy one-way sun shades for prams/buggies online which are good. There are also these pop up sun tents for babies.

You will probably read arguments for and against this idea.
But in this day and age and the world such a smaller place with the planes we have it has become a normal routine for many people.
What are we supposed to do delay all our travelling until the babies are older, nobody would be able to go anywhere.
The most important thing is your baby has had suitable vaccines, not just any necessary baby jabs but jabs depending on which country you are visiting.
Have a brill time

I personally wouldnt take my baby on such a long flight as that but see your health visitor for advice. It could become very uncomfortable for you and the baby on the plan so ensure that you have suitable loose clothing, plenty of bottles and a fan to keep baby cool. Baby toys are also a must to help occupy baby. MAKE SURE that you have appropriate health and travel insurance. Have a good trip.

Yes, I took my baby abroad from 2-3 months. It is perfectly safe, just be prepared. Take twice as many diapers, extra clothes etc as you think you will need. Feed the baby during takeoff and landing to reduce discomfort. Request a bassinet on each segment of the flight, so the baby can lie down while sleeping. Take some Purell to sanitize anything quickly

I'm sure there's no problem for the baby apart from you making sure you give the child a bottle on take off and landing because this ensures the baby's ears will adjust to the altitude, so enjoy your flight and your holiday. if you are breast feeding then this is the same as long as the child is swallowing at the time,

although i didnt go nearly as long as you are planning, i took my 2 weeks old baby on a 5 hour flight. the dr said it was fine. since you are going out of the country i would reccomend talking to your dr, the baby probably needs shots before you go

i havent done this but i really wouldnt advise it unless it is very necessary. As your baby's ears will pop and they will not undertsand what is happening so will prob cry all the way and believe me they can cry for soooooooo long. My friends 1 year old cried all the way there and back. so imagine how it will feel for you baby. Can be embarassing for you.
