Steel Magnolias was the best "chick flick" ever, my husband even liked it, or you could go with another Julia Roberts movie, Pretty Woman.

Beaches is a very good movie about friendship, it's older but it's a wonderful movie. Serendipity, The Notebook, Autumn in New York. Hope these help.
