This year we had bad snow storms and we had no school. Well, the first day we had to make-up was Presidents Day. Alot of people complained that no banks open and no mail so why have school on a national holoday?

If the school has had too many days off already this winter, it is fine to use President's Day for a snow make-up day. If the school keeps putting these make-up days on to the end of the year they may not get state aid or some state and national tests(regents, SATs, or other exams) may not be able to be taken and used for people that need them to get into college, for the next school year, or other important things.

You get Presidents' Day off? Many schools throughout the country don't. And most businesses and offices are open. Although it's a federal holiday, it's not exactly widely celebrated.

And if you don't make up snow days then, you have to make them up in June. Wouldn't you rather be in class in February (where, I assume, it's cold, since you have snow days) than in June, when it's beautiful outside?

The court system and other city and state buildings close for snow days too.
Employees get paid and don't have to make up those missed days. Teachers should be exempt as well.

Think about this....would you rather make up the day now or at the end of the year when you're eager for summer vacation?

Most people would rather make the day up now as opposed to the end of the school year.

Each school district require students to be in school for a certain number of days every year, allowing for illnesses to stay home.

i say yes they should. president's day, while being damn patriotic, is the lamest of all federal holidays. might as well get some wall decorations of Lincoln and Washington and throw a party. my point is, that yes, it is a useless holiday as far as closing schools and banks and the post office are concerned. so i would rather make up my snow day when it is crap outside instead of doing it during the summer.

I THINK IT WOULD BE BETTER TO MAKE UP A SNOW DAY IN THE WINTER THEN TACK IT ON UNTIL MAY OR JUNE WHEN THE WEATHER IS GETTING NICER.

SO MY ANSWER IS "YES"
