My kids keep forgetting to turn the fan on when they shower. Isn't there something that will connect the fan switch with the light switch so that they can only be switched on at the same time? I hope my question makes sense. Thanks.

Very easy, you should be able to hook up both within the same switch, might want to check a home improvement store and see if you will need a new switch for this. Would be a good idea to hire someone with electrical experience to do it for you out of craigslist or something. Read all about the wiring process below.

I think the poster that suggested a double switch plate has the best solution. Now, I think a "double switch " could have two different meanings . One being a plate with two port holes and, the other being a plate or a item of some sort that catches both switches at the same time. You may have already gathered that, I hope I'm not insulting your intelligence. One more thing to consider, having the fan come on every time you turn the light on, during times when the fan isn't needed may become annoying.

All you need to do is to hook the black wire (it should be black anyways) going to the light and the black wire going to the fan to the same switch. By doing this you will have to abandon one of the switches and get a double switch plate where one side is just a blank. Good luck.

Yeah, you just need to wire the switch to the fan in the same switch as the light.
Better yet, flush the toilet when they are showering to remind them.

Install a double switch plate one that controls the light and the other will control the fan.

MJV is right. I do this stuff without even turning off the juice (110 is no big deal) but you might want to turn the braker off 1st.
