Most likely the management will allow you to move within the complex without penalty. You may however, have to add additional security deposit for a larger place and the rent may be higher.

No you are not breaking the lease, it's called a "transfer". If you were already approved and have paid your deposit, as long as there is an available unit ready for you, then your landlord and/or property manager shouldn't have a problem doing a transfer for you. However, you may be responsible for any tenant related damages to your existing apartment which would be tacked onto the first months rent of your 1 bedroom apartment.

a lot of complexes will allow you to move to another apartment. Just call them and ask. If not try listing your apt on craigslist. You'll have to give the person taking over your lease an incentive. For example no deposit or 1/2 to 1 month paid.

it just dependes on the manager at your complex. some managers will let you move into another unit and keep your existing lease. but if you are staying in the same complex i don't see why they wouldn't let you.

No it should be allowed. I work for an apartment complex and we allow it. Trust me they would rather you transfer than move out.

If you've lived there for less than 6 months, you are breaking the lease if you move.
