Although it has been a strong seller for Honda, the RSX does not fit within the confines of Acura's re-structured market strategy, formulated after the decision to take the Acura brand worldwide (previously, the Acura nameplate has appeared only in North America, elsewhere in the world the same models are sold as Hondas). With the introduction of the similarly powerful and less expensive 2006 model-year Honda Civic Si to the marketplace, the decision has been made to discontinue production of the RSX, with the final units slated to be built in summer 2006. Because of its lower pricing and longer list of available options, Honda considers the new Si to be a more viable choice for performance minded young men, who are the most common buyers of RSXs. Speculatory articles seem to indicate that a 2-door variant of this new TSX will replace the RSX as Acura's entry-level sports coupe, although it will be more luxurious, more expensive and more powerful than the RSX and will thus likely appeal to a different market segment.

Dick Collier, Vice President of Public Relations at Honda Motor Co. has said that there will be no 2007 RSX.

2006 is the last model year you can get an RSX. If the dealers even have any left on their lots.

They stopped making them because the new Civic Si has come onto the scene. It uses the same engine that the RSX Type S had and same transmission. You can get Navigation in the Si, was not available in the RSX.

Acura is coming out with a new RSX potentially in 2006 as either a roadster or more upscale 2 door coupe (Think C-Class Coupe or BMW 328ci). They are aiming sights at the competition and getting away from the entry level, moving more towards full luxury like Inifinti, Lexus, BMW, Mercedes.

So there will be two things coming from Acura, a new RSX and an NSX. The RSX is slated to be like these kind of cars:

A sports coupe/roadster (Inifiniti G35 coupe, Nissan Z / BMW M3, 328ci / Mercedes C-class Coupe, SLK)

from what i hear it may just get redesigned and keep the RSX badge for 2007, i've also heard they may offer a TSX coupe (TSX is basically a 4 door RSX, with some visual changes. however RSX is just a name. as long as acura is in business there will always be a front-wheel drive sport coupe available. the rsx is basically a redesigned and renamed integra. if the rsx gets dropped, then you can be sure that the replacement will be an even better car no matter what it is called. you can still love it.

they stopped making it in 2006.

Acura is coming out with a new TSX coupe where they are making the concept. They are also changing the design for the 2009 Acura TSX so they want the new RSX to look similar.

2006

With the new Civic and especially the new Civic Si Honda figured the Civic would cannibalize too many sales from the RSX.

2006, because they thought it competed too much with the Civic. I agree with you. I had two of them & they were great.
