The natural occurrence of twins is 1 birth in every 89.

So for every 88 single babies there are 2 twin babies, making a population percentage of 2.2%.

In recent decades, multiple births have risen by about one-third, due to fertility treatments. On that figure, the percentage of twins will be about 2.9% in the younger part of the population, but still only 2.2% in the older part. Wait for another 30 or 40 years for twins to reach 3% of the whole population, I would say.
