I am watching the history channel and a couple of interesting comments made:

The average dollar BILL lasts 22 months.

The coins we make today will be around for hundreds of years.

Could dollar coins save taxpayer money?

Yes they would in the long run save taxpayers money but no body looks in the long run the only think of now, and the coins dont weigh that d**n much i have carried a roll of them in my pockets and the weigh about the same amount as a ipod. all most every other country has a coin for the dollar of dollar equivalent amount coin. the us had dollar coins before and people used them so what would stop them now.

think about how much change the average person carries today especially if you use a vending machine or a transit fare machine where they would give you all quarters in you paid for something with a 5 dollar bill on up. its easy to see why. its just that people dont like change.

It is too convenient to carry around paper. Men would have a really hard time since they carry wallets and not purses, and besides that, we are fast approaching a time when we carry no money at all, only debit/credit cards anyway.
Could you imagine carrying around 30 of those coins in your pocket instead of 30 paper dollars. It would be heavy, loud, and put a big bulge in your pants. Not such an attractive sight on a female.

The government couldn't care less if we accept the dollar coins or not ! ! ! ! ! !

They make money off the collectors grabbing these coins and hoarding them. I am guilty of it. I get all the new coins and hoard them by the rolls. I also get extra coins for packaging myself and giving for gifts as collectible items. They simply know how to make money off us and are enjoying every minute of it.

Do not be fooled into thinking the gov. wants us to carry a ten pound pocket full of coins. Bills/paper money & now credit cards, will always be our choice for carrying.

Happy Tuesday !

Coins are too hard to use at strip clubs, for one thing.
