It is one thing to pay for fuel and have costs justfied. Oil companies BOASTED 39 BILLION dollars in profit, they are laughing at us. It is time we as a nation made a stand. I say we start with Exxon/Mobil and buy our fuel from other suppliers. We will make Union 76, Chevron, etc. ritch but at least we can send a message and it is a start. Are you with me

No one is twisting your arm, buy elsewhere.

As for ripping us off, more of my gasoline dollar goes to government taxes and fees than to Exxon profits. Between lease royalties, corporate income tax ($27 billion), and collecting $30 billion in sales taxes, Exxon is a cash cow which the government has milked for over $100 billion last year alone.

Perhaps you are looking at the wrong bad guy.

As a percentage of gross revenue, no oil company has made more than 12% profit in the last several years. From a business standpoint, this is not a very profitable business. Target (the store) regularly posts profits of 20%, and Microsoft runs about 35%. Should we boycott them?

You need to look at the big picture, not just the amount of profit.

you can't hurt them. Just like you can't hurt Microsoft, or AT&T, or Halliburton. Next quarter, they'll break their own earnings record AGAIN.

Now the democrats are our best chance of getting higher taxes and fees on oil companies.
