i had the opportunity to drive on the German autobahn while in the military. I was driving American made army sedans. on several occasions while alone i topped 110 for a stretch of several miles. in the USA i hit 105 on a motorcycle briefly.

In 1983 I was clocked at 156 MPH in the Mojave Desert on a remote stretch of Stoddard Wells Road. Timed by a friend in a chase car (911 Turbo). The car a 1974 Alpha Romeo Montreal V8 Coupe. I held this speed for about two minutes and then slowed to around 100.

I had a 49 ford flathead that I built up. It would go 130 on the flat roads in indiana. that was in 1957-59. Then I had a 67 chevelle 396 SS that I would go 135+ It would slow to about 80 then the brakes just quit, The old ford was more fun though because of where I lived, the long flat roads.
