Marcus plays guitar.

In English, sometimes we say that a person plays a kind of instrument. For example, Shelly plays flute in the band. Shelly plays the flute in the band. Both are acceptable.

Alternatively, you could change to an active voice, Marcus is playing the guitar. That means he is currently playing the instrument as you are speaking.

I would reword (note the O) by saying, "Marcas is playing the guitar". (reward is something you get when you win)
