I have lived in Cape Town without mishap for the past 18 years, so can recommend it.

I believe the statistics are difficult to interpret with any accuracy - but if you want to work through the numbers, here's the information.

Well its different for every place. I live in Alberton a small town about half an hour from Jo'burg. I feel very safe here, other than a house break in about 13 years ago, I have never had a problem........I have never had a problem anywhere in South Africa and I have lived here for 24 years. Obviously the richer the area you live in the safer it will be and Visa Verse. Around Jo'burg youve got places like Sandton, Randburg, Westdene, Alberton....too name a few that are safe.

I lived in Port Elizabeth for 25 years and never had any problems with crime. It has all the same attractions as Jhb and CT but just hasn't been paid enough attention for long term population.

Life is laid back and relaxed... drive in any direction from city centre and it takes 20mins!

And the best feature - is we aren't called the Friendly City for nothing! People are a lot more open and friendly there - something that i miss terribly!

So you can give me all your stats but PE is still the best place to live in SA.

Bloemfontein is amazingly afrikaans. you will possibly be able to like it. Johannesburg i might sidestep as this is the place many of the crime is in SA. Durban is nice, yet throughout the time of summer this is amazingly humid. PE, East London additionally nice. maximum suitable place is Cape city. I even have purely come decrease back from a 7 week holiday and it grew to become into beautiful. Very very heat. Tableview tremendous place for youthful human beings. plenty to do. Durbanville, Rondebosch aspects are good. you will comprehend once you get there the place you want to stay. too plenty to come to a decision from. good success

Glynnis, Cape Town has the highest violent crime rate per capita in South Africa and that is based on the ANC figures which we know are understated. As for the other " I have lived for 18 years ". That is the usual Tourist Industry crap to lure insuspecting tourists into the Cape so that they can be attacked on Table Mountain or the Beaches or the Hotel or the roads or the Airport. There are so many crime sites on South Africa that you have a huge choice. That in itself tells you much about the levels of crime. try www.crimexposouthafrica.co.za or www.southafricathetruth.com and make up your own mind but at the end of the day I dont think anyone can guarantee your safety anywhere in South Africa.

CT does have a lower crime rate than JHB. Having said that though, I think Port Elizabeth is safer. My mum and sisters live there they never lock their doors (only when we go to bed) and hardly lock the cars too.

Durban and Cape Town Suburbs are OK, stay out of the rich people's or Millionaire's neighbourhoods, too crowded, you won't enjoy it at all.
