Are you winding me up?
You and the air in the car - which is what would carry the sound of the fart - are travelling at the same speed, so, of course you would hear it before you smelt it.
Naturally, at that speed, only you would know; because, apparently, you are the only one who would not be screaming
'OHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGOD...' - when travelling , in a car, at the speed of sound...

Speed is irelevant to the answer because sound travels faster than wind so unless you can fart in excess of 340m/sec your always gonna hear it before you smell it. Unless of course you let out a silent but deadly!!

This depends on many factors, the gas (smelly bit) evacuating your body is travelling about 150 miles an hour.

So people in the back seat (providing you are driving) might well get a whiff prior to a warning klaxon.

If you had the window open, it would dramatically affect the outcome.

No,because your fart would be travelling at the same speed as you so you would only get to smell your stinking brown cloud of guff in normal time
