I have been feeling very "different" lately and I am afraid it might be my body going through the change. I am going to be 27 in a few weeks and I have become extremely depressed and have gained a few pounds and I am very emotional. My mother went through her change at 29 so maybe thats whats wrong with me. I want to see a doctor but I am not sure if I should ask for my general doc or some sort of hormone specialist. I have had my tubes tied so I know I am not prego. Please help...Thanks!

Endocrinologist and get a GYN checkup too. Endorcinologists specialize in the organs that make hormones, such as the adrenals, thyroid, pituitary glad, etc. GYN deal with reproductive system, and the only hormone maker there is the ovaries really. Low thyroid (hypothyroid) is the first thing I'd check, and you can get that by going to a regular doctor. It's a simple blood test. The common symptoms of hypothyroid are weight gain, depression, dry skin and hair, fatique.

An endocrinologist. It sounds like your thyroid gland may not be producing enough hormone. A blood test will tell. The first blood test can be done by any doctor...but the specialist is an endocrinologist.

I would start by talking about this with your GYN. There is some kind of blood test that can determine whether or not you are going through the change and if not, then they may be able to recommend someone who understands what you are going through.

your regular doctor should be able to help you. And yes you are probably going threw perimenipous. It does happen but tring to convince a doctor it happens that early is really hard. You do not need hormone's. let it ride is course. have your doctor try to treat the symtoms. there are other ways to treat the symtoms without hormone's

I would make an appt with an ob/gyn.. They can do a simple blood test to see if your hormonal levels are "normal" or not.

An endocrinologist treats this, but since I don't go to medical doctors myself, if you see a naturopathic doctor or someone who practices ayurvedic medicine, they could help you w/o drugs.

See a GP they will refer as needed. More likely tho you are experiencing anxiety over your mom's early menopause.
