Does anyone else out there suffer with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo? I received mine from a head injury in 2004. I went to the only doctor within a 50 mile radius who specializes in this but she was not in my network. Two visits cost me over 900.00 out of pocket, which is ridiculous. I know you can practice some of the manuevers such as the Epley and Semont, which I have tried with little success. I also find that my condition worsens later in the day, and by the time I am ready to drive home from work, I am so dizzy that I am afraid to get behind the wheel. Anyone know have any secret remedies or care to share your story?

Take a look at vestibular.org
This website may have some information on health practitioners in your area that specialize in dizziness problems.

Some physical therapists are specially trained in these techniques. I am well versed in the Epley, and I promise I've never charged anyone $900 for 2 visits in my life!

Good luck!

The eply manuever is pretty effective, did you do it yourself or did you have a doctor do it to you - I believe it only works if your physician performs it. Also did you lay down after the maneuver. You have to remain upright or at least at a 45 degree angle for a week or two after the maneuver is performed. In other words, you can't lay down for a week or two. There is also a medicine called meclizine(Antivert) which can aleviate some of the symptoms.

A family physician should be able to do the Eppley maneuver. This is a really common condition.
