I need it to shut down at a set time for curfew reasons.

a windows machine?
1) create a new text document
2) type shutdown -f
3) save as shutdown.bat
4) use Windows Scheduler to call this file at the time you want
(Windows Scheduler is in Programs,Accessories,)
NOTE - if you want your machine to reboot, type "shutdown -r -f"

a mac?
1)go to System Preferences, Energy Saver, Schedule
2)select "Shut down" and tell it when.

You could try "Start->Control Panel->Schedule Tasks". Select to create a daily tasks that shuts down the computer at the time you specify. Unfortunately this would only shut it down at that time, not prevent them from turning it back on.

Look at the "shutdown" command (C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe) for usage in the tasks.

yes. go to start and click the shut down button. or just turn off your computer. it will automatically shut down

sure. there are simple scripts one can write to do this.
However, you also need to write a script to not allow windows to start or a user to log in if it's outside the permited times.

there are many softwares available in market.....u can go to download.com for such softwares......one of them is auto pc shutdown....so try them they are good..
