Tests didn't reveal neurological damage, and Brendan Shanahan doesn't have any other serious injuries beyond the concussion and general aches and pains. It is unknown how long he will be sidelined, but he won't play for at least a week.

Shanny was released from the hospital Sunday morning (2/18) he stopped by MSG to visit the locker room, and greet his team mates, and then he headed home. He is on IR, until he is symptom free for as many days as he had symptoms. Newspaper said 'significant concussion'; but, reports are that the readings had settled down measurably the next day (Sunday) he is sore all over, but other than the concussion, he is bruised and sore.

Well he was released from the hospital Sunday before the game, all tests showed that there was no long term damage, except he does have a concussion. He stopped by before the ranger game the next day on sunday to talk to his team, so hes up and about. Rangers placed him on Injured Reserve but hes on Day-to-day now.

I think since Shanny briefly lost consciousness, they have to term it a Grade 3 concussion. There's a certain amount of time he has to have no symptoms before he can exercise, and then a certain amount of time he has to be able exercise with no symptoms, before he can play.

He was released from the hospital sunday. He made a surprise appearance in the Rangers dressing room before the game against the Hawks.

''He saw the neurologist and they are pleasantly surprised with where he is today,'' Renney said before Sunday's game. ''It's not like he can play hockey in the next little while, but they're optimistic with where it sits this morning.''
