As someone just getting started in the real estate industry, I'd like to know what people are looking for in a realtor. Is there anything that would really make a difference when selecting someone? I'd appreciate any input. Thanks!

Honesty is paramount. Of course, you are working for the seller, and need to get the best price for your 'employer.' While trying to get the best price, you must not inflate the property value. You will be walking a tight line, between tyring to help the buyer and at the same time not undercutting the seller. Part of what you will do, is work with an appraiser. Your money (commision) is dependant upon the purchase price. Too many agents get greedy, and pushy, which can turn people off. If the listing is good, fine. If not, don't try to cover flaws, they will come back and bite you. You have chosen a cut-throat profession, at a time when there is a slow down. Have a back-up job to pay your bills while you get established. There is a tremendous turnover in this field. Best wishes

I just bought a house a couple of years ago and my biggest problem was getting my realtor to return my phone callls. I think it is very important to be in contact with your clients and make them feel like their business is a priority for you.

You want the feeling that they are working for you, not the seller. ( if you are buying that is)

Thats all it boils down to. Have them fight for you to get the best price they can. And be able to advise of you what a good offer would be.
