Chipping Nails?

I love doing my own nails. The feeling of accomplishement is great. What I hate is when I do my nails and they start chipping off after one day. What am I doing wrong? I put basecoat and topcoat for my nails when I do colors, but they still chip after one day or even on the day I did them. So what are some tips you have for me and my pathetic looking nails? Anything would be much appreciated.

You can try Chip Skip by OPI. It's a primer you apply before the base coat. My manicurist tried it on me & my polish lasted over a week. I'm sure they would have lasted a few days more but I got ink on my hands and it stained my nails.

The other thing you can do is to wipe off your nails with plain witch hazel or white vinegar to remove any traces of oil before applying a base coat.

Lastly, let your nails dry at least 30 min.s after washing your hands. Nails absorb a little water and contract as it evaporates. If you apply polish to freshly washed hands, the polish will chip as the nails dry out.

stop using polish for awhile...let your nails breath...and go for the natural look...too much polish makes your nails crisp and easily damaged...do it for about 10-15days...after this, when you apply polish your nails will absorb it which makes it last longer,also avoid washing hands with harsh detergents/soaps if you have nail colors on (even shampoos can damage it).after applying your polish, put a drop of enamel oil on every tip of your nails,let it run around the cuticle,it will make your nails harder & stronger.

It just happens. You are not doing anything wrong. It's just that the natural oils from your nails start taking your polish off without anything happening to them.
