i have the bt home hub, allthough i dont have bt vision yet,i can fully understand your problem
the problem with the bt home hub is it was not fully tested by b.t enough before it was released, and as we all must experience from time to time we get droped connections, and hardware problems when attaching p.c,s ect to the hub
as for your speed problem,i find that just turning your hub off from the mains for just 30 seconds, then plug it back in and then hold the "wireless association"button at the back of the hub(a little white button at the back of your hub)for 15-20 seconds, then release it
it will then take around 2 minutes for the hub to fully reconfigure again, and then take a look in your hub manager, you will notice a increase in your downstream speeds, and upload speeds
im not fully up to speed with bt vision but as it needs to be attached to the hub, again its putting more network strain on your broadband connection,i dont think bt thought about this, when they test their hardware(hubs, modems)they probally use a 16mbit connection in a exchange, the average user only has a 2 to 4 mbit connection so the tests are unrealistic
anyway thanks for the warning,i was contimplating on getting bt vision but i think i will give it a miss, but let me know if your speeds change or the hub starts to accept the bt vision
also the hub is suppose to update itself,so it may be that the update for your bt vision just hasent been sent yet,why not search bt.com(http://www.btvision.bt.com/btvision/) and check to see if theres any info there
good luck mate

the second number they give you is meaningless really. You'll never need to use it. People can still use your normal number. it must have something to do with BT knowing that you are using the internet for your calls. so just activate it like it says in the email - you'll notice your dial tone become more high pitched - that's when you're ready to phone over the internet. If you press the 5 button on your phone it will switch you back to your landline. But it is confusing. BT needs to simplify it big time!

spits at bt.
they are useless. we have ditched them totally. we use their line (as we cannot gt ntl and need a landline and broadband), but pay our line rental (which is MUCH cheaper) to Homecall. We use ZEN Internet, which is just 5 minutes away from our house, and homecall for telephone calls.
it's just a shame we can't get rid of the BT line and use another provider.
after years of sh!t service, and overcharged services, I am pleased to say I dont use BT.

the hub is what has dropped your speed. it is for hooking up more computers to use the same connection. use a router to do this.
