If they know enough about you they can have a new one generated. I had some friends once who did that to my Yahoo account by knowing my user name, DOB, and the answers to my Security questions. Fortunatly, they didn't know my other e-mail address, because the new password was sent to that address. If you don't have an alternate e-mail, they could gain access to your account in this way and then change the password.

Theoretically yes, but you should be safe. It is a difficult process and in order for it to be done, the person who does it to you usually has a grudge against you of some sort.
Again, it takes know-how to get email passwords and the like, and even if it is changed, you can always click "forgot password" and recover it.

If someone got your password, you can forget about getting your email back. It's one of the first things an armature would do, change you password and lock you out. Someone with a bit more intelligence would not lock you out and just continue to read your mail in the hope of gleaning a juicy bit of information.

If you are using a free account that guards your password with a secret question, and somebody who knows you could guess the answer to that question, then they could get into your e-mail. And yes, theoretically, once into your account, they could change the secret question to keep you from getting it back. So, make sure that both your password and the safeguards for it are secure.

Yes. Most of that comes from basic mistakes like forgetting to log off when you're done, or writing down the passwords where someone can find them or telling other people and believing that they will never abuse it. Or using easy to guess passwords, like 'password' or your birthday.
The more sophisticated ways would be keyloggers or hacking programmes. That is why you need to run antivirus, spyware blockers and firewalls.

Yea, if you give it to them or if you are not careful and someone sees you enter your password.
