I've been going through this too. For me I think it has to do with falling asleep while with the tv on. Its like the tv is now one of those soothing sounds player for me. I've been getting better about this since i started turning off the tv before falling asleep, I try not to fall asleep with the tv on now.

I've noticed that the beginnings of some movies are boring. Though they almost always get better later, the boring beginning might be causing you to get sleepy.

I've been truly tired, but if a movie that I love comes on TV late night, I force myself to stay awake to watch it. A few times I didn't make it--but I was tired to start with.

What I like about seeing movies that I really like more than once, is that you always see something that you didn't see the first time. There was one movie that I watched about 4 times, before I was satisfied that I had not missed one single thing.

Do you also fall asleep if you're watching TV? Maybe your eyes get tired from watching things on the screen. Or, maybe you have just done a lot of exercise during the day, and by the time you sit down to watch a movie, you're tired.

You fall asleep because your attention is focused for a long period of time, causing you to go into an almost hypnotic state, which can make you rather sleepy! Don't worry it's quite normal!
You can try to stay awake by drinking coke or coffee during the movie to keep your mind stimulated, or by shifting positions, or by having a break in the middle and walking around. Try it out and see what happens.

I have that problem sometimes. Only at home though when I lay down to watch the movie, I fall asleep 1/4 of the time.

you might want to buy a large popcorn and drink to keep you busy while watching the movie :) either that... probably, every 15 minutes, just sit up straight from your seat or check your mobile phone... Just do something to keep you busy and awake through the movie!
