Any one have any idea how I can build confidence? or at least look like I have some?

I need to look and act confident for a competition. it's only partly beauty pagent, but fully representation... I need to seem couragous and smart.

You are part way there just by considering being in the pagent. Self talk to boost your confidence. Tell yourself that these people are just like you,all with the same fears, only they feel you are braver because you doing something daring, and they know that. They are there to enjoy the atmosphere and the entertainment, none of them will think even for a second that you are nervous. In your mind prepare repeat, I am confident, I am beautiful, I am smart. Practice walking and talking until it becomes automatic and then you will know nothing can go wrong. Remember you have talent and fearlessness inside of you already.Give yourself credit no matter what happens. I think you are a courageous and an intelligent girl, just for attempting to seek out other ways that might help. You can do this, no problem. Good Luck.

Act confident. Hm. Well a confident person doesn't care what others think. I mean truly doesn't care. I used to be mocked a lot and my life was kind of destroyed as a kid, so I grew up not caring what other people thought as I hit the limit. Now people are like, "ohhh you're so confident...." Because I value others' opinions, and I listen to them, but I do not let them come over my final say in the end. In an existential point of view, you are from God. You are awesome. Your existence had to happen for the world to function properly. Once you realize everyone else is going to read this question and try to get the same advice, you'll understand that there's no reason not to be about yourself. By the way, I was in a pageant, and the way I won was in being articulate and smart and friendly. Before the interview segment, I thought of three good, generic adjectives that I could have off the tip of my tongue to use for a question. Like, "dynamic." That could be used for so many answers. I just wanted to have a word bank off to my side. Know this: All the other girls are scared out of their minds!!! Find humor in it and if you realize it's just a pageant, well those people tend to do much better and win it. I did!! =) (Well, first runner up, but whatever) Wow this got long.
