My coworkers keep stealing my milk out of a shared refrigerator. I've tried writing notes and putting lipstick on the carton, but they keep on using it. How can catch the culprit(s) or get them to stop?? Is there such a thing as a lock for milk cartons? The best suggestion I've gotten so far was to replace the milk with Ex Lax.

How about putting a lot of lipstick on your lips and drinking directly from the bottle at the opening. NO one will touch it that way and all you have to do is do it one time on each container.

The whole exlax thing......... I could see where the person, even though they did wrong could get you in trouble in so many ways.
I would take a carton, quart or half gallon size if there is room as people are more comforatable stealing from a larger size because it is likely to not be noticed if they take some, but this could work with a small one. Turn the carton over and pry it apart at the seams. Then have a tupperware or Gladware container with a sandwich or whatnot in it.
Place the top of the container on your upside down carton, turn it all right side up and place it in the fridge. When the person pulls it out all of the milk will spill out as he/she does this fast. It will take them a bit to clean it up and someone will see them. Even if they just ran away they might spill some on themselves and someone may take note of who was in he room before them.

Put a piece of masking tape around the lid or tape the carton shut. Write the date and your initials on it. They will get the hint.
If that doesn't work. Let them know in a note that you drink OUT of the carton and may have had a cold recently, but "go ahead and help yourselves". If they take the risk, maybe they deserve it.
Or...leave an old, icky, few days expired milk in front of the fridge with your name on it and hide your good milk. They will not look further for a "duplicate" milk because they think they already have yours. When they discover it is spoiled, they'll give up. Maybe they'll even get sick!

Go to the grocery store or health food store and find the weirdest type of milk possible...organic skim goat's milk or something. Empty it (I'd wash the heck out of it too) and refill it with what you usually use. The container might keep them out of it.
If that doesn't work, refill your normal container with buttermilk just to give a little back to your co-workers.
If the frig has an ice maker in it, bring a small cooler to work and bring in a pint size bottle of milk with you and keep it at your desk with ice in it. I use a pint size bottle, not due to your problem, but so I can take it back home and refill from a gallon jug at home.

my husband had a problem with a guy poring himself a cup of coffee out of his thermis. The guy like to take a spoonful of his cream and sugar too. My husband changed the cream and sugar to garlic salt. The guy never took his coffee again. He had asked him lots of times not to drink his coffee.. Without asking anyway.
You may want to add something like garlic powder or something that will not hurt them but will get their attention as to leave it alone.
Or put just what you need in a thermis and bring it to work instead of the milk carton. Lots more work but you will have it when you need it.
Another idea is get you a carton of buttermilk and clean it out and put your good milk in it. Maybe they'd leave it alone then.

Put something with lots of fiber like metamucil, because exlax is chocolate right? Or put some spoiled milk in a current carton. I put a skull on my lunch to ward it from theft, it has worked for me.

Go to the store, and buy breast milk bags- then label your milk, "BREAST MILK"..Plus it'll be funny to watch their expressions as you pour yourself a cup..hehe...or you could set up a video camera and catch them. Or you could start taking up a milk money fund, and share with everyone.

I like the lipstick on the mouth of the container. That would gross most people out.

Put your name on it...oh that didn't work? Yeah put ex lax in there, I bet they would stop using it then lol j/k. Your co-workers are rude, but perhaps your should try talking to them about taking your things and be stern.
