Luck more than work. About 60-40%. But I've met people who had about 2-98% (luck-work).

Luck has nothing to do with success.
Success in anything requires five things:
1 WORK
2 WORK
3 WORK
4 WORK
and last but not least, more WORK.
The thing about work is, sometimes it's hard and sometimes it's
easy. It depends on how badly you want it.

I believe you have to be in the right place at the right time often with the right people and ready when opportunity comes knocking on your door in order to achieve success. For example, I have a photo of a sea snake that happened to be caught near shore during low tide. The photo may be useless unless I have someone who is interested in it. However, if I tell enough people I know that eventually someone may be interested.I have some clay "stones" that I collected one day; and I found out they may not be just clay stones but related to history.I may need to write a book or do something unusual to highlight my find in order to achieve success. Maybe by offering them on eBay I may get $X and the person who buys my stuff and knows the real value may get $100X .

In sales it has been stated," luck is the result of hard work. But wait, if I would have been lucky enough to be born into a family that cherished it's members, I wouldn't have had to work so hard. Success has everything to do with who you know. It is far better to work smart than hard.

well I believe that people always get what they deserve. The harder and more effectively you work, with the right intentions btw, the more successful you will be. sometimes success can something misinterpreted, maybe you see being the boss as being successful when actually it could be just having a good reputation as doing what you do very well.

Two ways to success, marry the bosses daughter ( no joke- a proven fact) or be at the right place at the right time with the right stuff. (ala Bill Gates)

well, both, actually. your "work" gives you the tools you need for your craft. being "the best" might open a lot of doors. but sometimes, just plain luck then comes into play. don't ever count on just luck, because then your "work" (or lack of it) will show up pretty fast.

you must work to achieve and hone your talent and then be lucky to get into the right spot at the right time. However, if you don't get lucky, you still have a chance based on your self drive and determination.
