I have just walked home about two miles from my local tescos, I was feeling all fit and energetic when I woke up today so been walking everywhere.
Anyway, I walked home along a path than runs alonside a dual carriage way for almost the whole two miles. As I was walking along, I recieved a new personal record of 12 beeps from passing drivers. I wasn't wearing a skirt, I wasn't anywhere near the road, I just didn't get it, I know men beep us girls if they think we are cute, and it doesn't bother me at all, in fact by the tenth beep I was feeling a bit like a mini movie star or something, but guys, why do you do it? What is it's purpose? And I ask this with no malice, as I say, I was laughing my head off today at the amount of beeps I got, but what does it MEAN? Also girls, does it bother you when you get beeped?

Good on you being beeped!

I got beeped twice whilst out for a run recently, along a busy road. Lots of bored chaps waiting for the lights to change..... I was not particularly alluringly dressed, as I was wearing running kit (Ronhill tracksters and a long-sleeve top)! At the time I was sweaty, red and short of breath. I'm blonde however.

I was rather pleased it happened, because it means I must look OK despite being 46!!!!!

No it doesn't bother me, but if you get beeped then see them again at the next set of traffic lights or something, I usually make a point of making no eye contact!
12 beeps is a lot though! Are you sure yur knickers weren't accidentaly on show or something lol

I guess guys do it to get the girl to notice them & as it's usually more than 1 guy in the car at the time, I guess it's just a "lad" thing.

Where were the cars when they beeped you, approaching from the front or behind?

If they beeped when approaching from behind they were most likely trying to get you to turn round so they could see what you looked like! If they were approaching from the front, they know what you looked like, but still want you to look at them. Which you obviously did, how else would you know that it was men doing the beeping?

BTW, I never beep at women as I think it's rude and silly juvenile behaviour, I'm way past all that. You have the right not to be bothered by juvenile imbeciles, just ignore them.

i think guys do it as a joke even though they do think youre cute or w/e..they find it funny i guess since we cant do anything about it

i think the beeping is somewhat flattering i guess but i dont really like it that much..i just feel trashy if they do that
and yeah i know theyll beep whether or not you wear a skirt >.<

i once saw a 30 year old man checking out a 65 year old woman's az$ as she walked past him.

It sounds like you are encouraging it. If you are smiling at them of course that are going to honk and you. What part of the country are you in? I guess it also depends on what type of community you live in.
As a teenager, I hated getting honked and gawked at, I'm like do you think I'm a dog? I don't walk as much as I did then but I'm sure I would feel the same.

If I were a woman, I think I would hate it and feel vulnerable. Just make sure you have a cell phone because there could be people out there with bad intent.

i'm sorry if you feel that way ever but most men are harmless and there habit of staring at women is not driven by prejudice but a plain "curiosity" - yes there are a few extreme bastards that give the rest of us a very bad name and make women feel fearful when alone in company of men.

Dont complain its better than not getting beeped, and the reason they do it to exert their testosterone and to prove to their mates that they are real men
