I know what dock to fish from, yet I can not catch any fish. I can cast the line, and jerk the fishing rod around a little but I can't catch anything. Please help..I've read all of the guides and they make it sound soooo simple.

If you're standing on land and using the original rod, then you just kind of wait until the bobber is completely submerged, then rip it up. If you don't see any fish in the lower part of the screen thinking about taking it, then you won't catch anything.
It took me quite a while, also. I assume you're at the very beginning where you have to catch a fish to get the cat back to his owner. The first fish will catch the cat's attention, the second fish will be stolen by the cat and taken back to the small shop.
If you're all the way to the boat part in the actual fishing hole, here's the trick:
Cast directly into the middle of the big rock arch with the popping lure. Press up on the joystick to zoom the camera close to see. When you see a fish grab it, pull up hard on the remote (point it to the ceiling), then start reeling with the nunchuck like crazy. When it gets close to the boat, you'll see a notification to press A+B to get the fish in the boat...so...do that.

I've fished in Zelda TP, and it's not all that simple. First, cast your line toward where you see fish. Don't jerk it around, let it sit and see if fish come to it. You need bait for some fish, but others bite without any. When you see your line bob, a fish is nibbling the hook. Give your rod a bit of a jerk up, then you'll see "Fish On" displayed on the screen. From there, use the nunchuck as if it were the knob on a fishing rod and reel the fish in. There are subtleties here - you can't jerk your rod too much, or reel too fast or slow, or the fish may come off and you'll have to try again.
I've caught a few fish at the fishing hole, but haven't explored all the details. Evidently there are big fish that give you heart containers or empty bottles or something. Also, you'll have to fish later in Zora's domain in order to advance in the game, so you must develop your fishing skills at some point.

ok, since you have no bait, you have to try several times to catch fish, you have to wait till the fish bites (and see the cork go down) pull your rod back up. This first fish will go in your fish book thingy. You have to repeat all of this to catch another fish and give it to the cat (yes i know, catch 2 fish when you had problems just catching one!!i got frustrated with that part too..). The cat will then go back home to the slingshot selling lady. if you still have problems after that, or didn't understand my explanations, you could always try to go on websites that give indications (just type zelda twilight princess walkthrough [or cheats or indications]in google), although doing that would be a whole less fun than searching for solutions by yourself, and would make the game less exciting. Anyways good luck finishing the rest of the game....

Cast you fishing pole then wait for you bobber to go under water atleast half way then pull your remote upward quickly.
