I'm having a pain in the ball of my right foot when I do traditional line dancing. I have been wearing a leather soled street shoe (not a dance shoe). I want to buy a pair of practice shoes - Should I consider the dance sneakers or just practice shoes? Are there any brands or websites anyone can recommend?

I think any shoe desinged for dancing will be helpful. Disadvantage of sneakers - their sole is wide and it gets a little clumsy. Advantage is you can wear them on a poor floor surface or even outside without ruining them. Consider Dancesleakers. I have Capezio dance sneakers (don't remember which kind) but I hardly ever wear them because they are clumsy and have no heel.

Practice shoes with suede sole is a good option too. Make sure you buy a good brand that has sufficient padding at the ball of the foot. I have practice shoes by Supadance (the kind with 1.5" heel) and I'm quite happy with them.

Websites where I buy my shoes:

You can get dance sneakers for cheap from online dance stores such as discount dance supply and dance disturbers. I like the canvas ones instead of leather and they are generally cheaper. Capezio and Leos are 2 great brands.
