Hi, I'm trying to choose between an Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Windsor 2.2GHz cpu, and Intel Pentium D 925 Presler 3.0GHz cpu.

Which one will out perform the other?

I totally agree with Djorn and FULLY DISAGREE WITH ANSWERER NUMBER 1. It seems the latter is out dated since year 2004, as it was the "last" time Intel was best than AMD. Nowadays, AMD is best. For the range or "family" you are going to buy, AMD is best. Since the advent of the Athlon64, AMD is best, especially concerning gaming. Besides, AMD uses less electricity and heats less. So, go for the AMD.

P.S: am a CCAI

Honestly, it really depends on what you are planning on using it for.

Here is an interactive chart that will allow you to compare many different CPU's based on the type of program you are more likely going to use on a regular basis.

My personal preference has always been with AMD.

if you want a good cheap doul core processor get the doul core pentium-d's. i think intel outperforms AMD in almost every aspect. intel's way better for gaming.
