Because back then it was bad to do that and now people are still thinking that way even thought its raciest they do.

It is called ignorance. There are alot of people still stuck back in the day and refuse to come out of it. They raise their kids to be like they are and so the cycle continues. I often wonder when people are going to realize that we are all the same no matter what are background is. All women have the same body parts, and all men have the same. Sizes, shapes, and colors may vary but we are all compatible. Hopefully one day the ignorance will become almost non exsistant. Just tell your friend to continue to be true to herself and not worry about what others think.

its a person or two people or a communal opinion versus your preference.
Preferance can be shaped by upbringing which is clearly brainwashing, we are all humans but some parents drill the thought that people should stay with the same color...complete racist BS and ignorance/close-mindedness.
Preferance can be shaped by environment, meaning a latin person raised in a neighborhood of asians, could end up liking asians more than others since most of that person's friend are likely to be asians.
People should date people, no matter what color they are, we are all the same species.

Inter-racial relationships will never be accepted honestly. It's not really that bad it's just that some people still want it to be like the old days when no one hung out with anyone unless they were of the same nationality. Sad but true it's never gonna change until the old generation is completely wiped out.

People have their biases and there is nothing you can do about it. Just be supportive of your friend, as it sounds like you have been, and don't let people trash her or the person she's dating.
I see nothing wrong with dating people of different backgrounds/ethnic groups, as I did this myself as a teenager.

Because of cultural differences. All people think differently and sometimes people of different backgrounds are raised with different traditions/customs and values. Some people are closeminded to this sort of thing, they dont want to see different.
