That's the thing about science: Its correctness is
determined by continual tests verifying or destroying
its accuracy - not by the credibility of the guy
who discovers something.

And by the way, the tests verifying and
destroying are performed by SOMEBODY ELSE.

Most of Einstein's work has been verified
time and time again by others who never even
knew him.

It wouldn't bother or surprise me! He was a Genius with or without it! He couldn't have been an alcoholic though. It would not have been illegal and could even have been prescribed for him for a number of medical conditions. Nowadays it's very restricted in medical use as there are safer drugs to use! It is the recreational use of the drug that makes it illegal now!
Grass tends to make people think in philosophical ways as often as it causes the paranoia and other serious side effects so widely publicised! Most of the best pop and rock music and the best art is produced after smoking it! It doesn't however make someone of low or average intelligence any smarter! Neither does it give you an ability you don't already have! If it did there are people I know who should be artists or geniuses. I work for a heavy user who is using prescribed cannabis. He is no Einstein or Dali, he's just a normal guy of average intelligence and common sense but tends to start questioning the meaning of life when stoned! He like most people I've talked to never remembers the brilliant but unoriginal theory he came up with the night before!

The reputation of a scientist is enhanced if they have quirky behaviour problems. Work accredited to Einstein is in the public domain and people can make their own judgement on his work.

Had the discovery of heavy pot use been made public before any of his work was published, he might have found it difficult to get any of it published, distributed, and indeed many fellow scientists may have excluded him from forums which would have allowed further analysis and testing to verify his work.

It would do nothing now, but it could have done a lot of harm prior to his ascent ion into genius status.

I guess it depends on whether you smoke pot or not. If you do, then you'll be cool about it. But if you were puritanically anti-drug, then I guess you would choose to discredit him.

Either way, it's just all about perspective.

For example, I didn't think the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky affair affected Clinton's ABILITY to be a good President, but quite a few holier-than-thou Americans certainly thought it discredited him!

no, but it probably helped him understand the incomprehensible, and make sense out of nonsensical...

i like Einstien, we refer to him as Uncle Albert.. the man was a self educated under achiever, and as such is a great role model.. if a stoner can do it, so can i.. well, maybe not...

lots of very powerful and influential people smoke a little weed n their life, at least they know the reality of the truth.. pot doesnt make you into a crackhead overnight... it takes some serious abuse..and 99% of us have enough willpower..and we want to relax, but we dont do alcohol... where is our right to choose?

i ithink the stereotype stoner only really exists between the ages of 15 and 25... after that weve got bills to pay and a job to do... and from experience learned in our earlier years, getting stoned and going into work might be cool, but these days, the two don tmix too well, especially when you get older... and you have responsibility...

and im sure if uncle albert had set his mind to it, he'd have built a serious bong... no doubt filled with lightspeed weed...

His work speaks for itself, if anything then all this does is maybe give credit to the weed by the looks.
The work can never be discredited by his personal tastes.

I don't think so. Einstein work is one of the foundation of Physics. Specially his works on Theory of relativity that states matter cannot be created nor destroyed it will only transform to another form. His formula for energy is widely used in nuclear technology w/c is the E=mc^2

In all honesty, I think he must have been a bit stoned to come up with the questions he created the answers for. How many times have you been stoned or better still trippin and came up with the answer to the theory of life or something. Only to forget to write it down so you can remember the following morning...? I know Ive done it...!
