Yes, it's one of the things nature built into us to make sure that we nurture/nurse our babies (I say "us" because guys' nipples are wired the same way, and it also feels good to guys when someone plays with or sucks their nipples--also note that nipples are made of the same "erectile tissue" that makes up a penis or a clitoris).
Of course, the mother-child bonding mechanism also works to counteract and dampen the arousal and prevent mothers from actually being turned on by their kids (in most cases, any way).

Not true! I am one of those women who don't like to be touched there because it just doesn't arouse me. One pinch and I'd slap ya! Plenty of women don't enjoy that. Most women I meet tell me that breast feeding is not comfortable and it's NOT an erotic thing.
...And the the reason mom don't want hubby sucking the breast is because mom is pretty SORE after baby has been on it day and night. It is not about erotic satisfaction. There is a mental closeness that mom is sharing less with hubby, but it's not erotic.

Personally, no I do not feel erotic when I am breastfeeding my baby. It is different for each woman. A bunch of different hormones are involved in the act of nursing your baby, and these hormones feel different to each individual lady.
What I overwhelmingly feel when nursing is insatiable fatigue. When my baby was newborn, I could barely keep my eyes open while nursing. Prolactin is a hormone that is released into the milk and into the mothers body when the milk "lets down" (starts to come out for the baby after he latches onto the nipple), and this makes both the baby and the mother very sleepy, tired and relaxed. This is why a lot of babies are so easily calmed down and soothed by nursing. I also felt insatiable thirst while I nursed my baby in the beginning, and had to have a big huge cooler of ice water near me at all times, but this got better with time....
But as for feeling erotic, no......I do not associate my breasts with sexual behavior...that's something that only seems to occur in certain cultures where breasts are sexualized...in other cultures, for a man to find breasts desirable or for breasts to be associated with sex and erotic feelings is laughable, because as far as they there are concerned, "breasts are for babies".

I heard about a mother who asked a social worker if it was normal to get aroused by breast feeding. The social worker called child protective services to have the children taken from their mother. Fortunately they got a second opinion and the children were returned.
Yes, it arouses some women. It can also be painful.
My wife enjoys my pulling and tweaking her nipples, but she's never wanted sex after breastfeeding. Then again she stopped breastfeeding before she's recovered from childbirth enough to have sex. I should have more research results after our daughter is born in June.

it's been said that breast-feeding moms get all their libido satisfied by thier babies and tend to forget their own hubbies.
