At 3.5 weeks, your baby should be drinking about 90 ml of milk every 2 to 4 hours. Babies need the nutrition. your baby wont cry for milk unless she is hungry. Before you give her the milk, make sure she is not crying because of any other reason. As your baby gets older, her intake will increase, the time between each feed and the next might stay the same, but she can go for longer hours during the night without feeding.

It's called a growth spurt, she needs more so she is drinking more. The only way to drink more is to drink more often, her stomach is only a certain size. Also breastmilk completely digests in 90 minutes or less AND YOU CAN'T OVERFEED A BABY.
And also when they say further apart as she gets older they mean over the whole year. And also that isn't always true.
'How often do toddlers nurse?
Nursing frequency for toddlers is usually pretty erratic and varies greatly from child to child. It's normal for toddlers to be interested in everything around them and, as a result, not as interested in nursing. At other times, baby will be so focused on the big changes within herself (developmentally), that she will want to spend lots of time at the breast to reconnect with mom and adjust to all the new skills in her life. Some children nurse often ("like a newborn" is a frequent comment that you hear from the moms of 12-15 month olds), some nurse only once or twice a day, and some nurse a few times a day on some days and frequently on others. No matter what the nursing pattern, average nursing frequency decreases gradually as baby gets older. Once or twice a day nursings can continue for months and even years, depending upon the child and mom."

Ok, to the person who said feed the baby 5 times aday, are you insane?! Woah....
Nursed babies eat more often then bottle fed. Increase her amount... If she was eating that amount for a while now, and eating every 3 hours, give her more now that she wants to eat every 1-2 hours. She just needs a little more at one time now. Babies go through growth spurts and when they do, they need an increases amount. My son is nursed and I am not really sure how much he eats per feeding, but he is 4 months old, and has done alot of funky stuff. Eats every 4 hours, then every hour, then every 3 hours, off one side, off both sides, ect... During growth spurts they can do a whole bunch of different eating habits in order to satify themselves. You cant overfeed your 3 week old, at that point, they need everything you can give them!! good luck and congrats!

No you are not overfeeding her! Breastfed babies eat more. They will want to nurse up to 10-12 times a day. Your baby is doing alot of growing right now so keep up the good work.

Probably a growth spurt. And don't worry about over feeding her. If she wasn't hungry she wouldn't take it, and would most likely be spitting it all back up. Just feed her when she's hungry and everything will work itself out.

my 81/2 month old did the same thing eating every 11/2 to two hours which is fine. When he got to be around two months old I started him on cereal because he just wasn't full after eating. When I started to do that he wasn't as hungry and he slept his nights. Hope that helps you.

that is normal for babies who are breast fed all the way up until i think 8 months or so (not sure how old) and then eventually you start giving them a tiny bit of water every so often. And then you easy your way into baby food.

Sounds like she hungry! Check with your pediatrician, but I think she's probably doing really well. As long as she's just on breast milk and you're NOT giving her cereal yet.
