Why does my yahoo messenger keeping signing itself out and back in again? It is doing this every 5-10 minutes. I have a cable connection and my internet is fine. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling messenger and that did not fix it. Could it be the Netgear router that I installed? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Yahoo seems to not care to fix this problem. I guess services that we don't pay for are no concern to them.

It is not a wireless router and it started a few days after I installed it.

I would uninstall and then reinstall. This happened to me one day and I uninstalled and reinstalled and it was fine from there on. You may have cught a bug or it may need to reconfigure it's own setting's.

It seems the Yahoo Messenger has a tendency to sign on/off. I also have that problem. It could be that you are losing a connection to the Internet. I have found out that you can be disconnected from the Internet, but for some reason you still may be getting a signal through even though Y! Messenger signed off.

Same problem here. I don't know if uninstalling and reinstalling YM will help in anyway. I use comcast and netgear and I keep on getting disconnected from YM and AIM. I used the Belkin router before I got netgear and I never had any trouble with my internet service. Another way to solve this problem is to unplug your router and refresh it whenever you get disconnected.

Netgear is your problem you need to get the linksys wireless router i have a netgear sitting in my work shop and will never use it again. it caused too many problems. I have 1 desktop (LAN cable), 2 Laptops (wireless), 2 PDAs (wireless), and a printer (Wireless) connected to my Internet and i can add other laptops that Friends have on with no problem. Netgear sux, get linksys.i also have yahoo DSL and the linksys works with no probs.

Happens to me too, not that frequently but still happens.
I am guessing that it is something with their server since I dont have to put my password in again after it happens.
Have no clue why
sorry I could not be of more help but I do hope that there is some comfort in knowing that you are not alone in this!

Did you check your IM preferences. If you have checked that you want to automatically log on when on the internet it will do so.
