Patriot Act was introduced during a period of emotional distress and rushed through with very little objections from either sides. No one looked at the broad wordings of the Patriot Act.

Mainstream media portrays anyone who does not support our president's war as unpatriotic. No one dared to put up much of a challenge to the Act when time for renewal. No one wanted to be considered unpatriotic. As a result, the Patriotic Act has the power to classify anyone who does not agree with the current administration as terrorist, and paved the way for more laws the strips away our freedom (Military Commission Act, for one).

This should bear a salutory lesson to anyone who wants to be friends with the American administration.
