I am 24 and I am a virgin. I have the hardest time inserting tampons and fingers. Everything feels so tight and it hurts. I can see my hymen with a mirror and I tried to break it myself but I cannot find the opening. I would like to ask a doctor to do it for me. Does anyone know if you can ask them to just do it during your regular check up or something or do I need to request a pelvic exam and hope it does the job? I researched about a hymenectomy but I know that is a little extreme and I do not have medical insurance right now.

ok - if you are 24, you should have been getting yearly pap smears since you were 18. The rule is, start seeing the ob/gyn for paps when you are no longer a virgin or 18, whichever comes first. You are well overdue for your first visit.

When you are there, explain that you are still a virgin and have discomfort putting in tampons and fingers, even after all this time (I presume you got your period quite some time ago).

You know, I was once a virgin, and my daughter is a virgin but neither of us had difficulty with the slender regular tampons. In my experience with teenage patients, most are very comfortable with digital insertion and the use of tampons. There is normal variation in the size of the female genitals of course, but for you to still have pain and discomfort, there may be something else wrong. You definitely need to see the ob/gyn.

You need to go see a gynocology for a pelvic exam. After the doctor assesses your body, tell the doctor about your problems and ask about clipping the hymen. Ever think you may be using the wrong type of tanpon??

I believe it is possible, if you've tried to do it yourself and you can't let the doctor know. They will help.

Maybe you should just use Pads instead of tampons and save that privilege for your Honey Moon night. At 24, girl!! you should be proud of that, you have come a long way and deserve to be "HONORED". i SALUTE YOU!! You are truly a queen in our promiscuous society

You need to see your OB/GYN and they will do it for you.
