battle?? Dont you think that would eliminate many of these abortion issues? I mean, the government is involved already, so why not involve them for a reason that actually makes sense??

Eugenics?? I dont think I mentioned genocide or forced castration did I?? Just as you have to obtain a safe, stable environment w/o substance abuse, felony criminal background, etc., in a courthouse where you're fighting to keep your children!

Funny you should mention Y!A. They decide who's "fit" and who's "not" every minute!

I don't know about eliminatiing the abortion issue because most of them are unwanted pregnacies but as far as the people that REALLY want to have kids I think for the most part they should all take a class BEFORE ever conceiving and then be evaluated. and you bring up a good point and also when you are adopting; they evaluate and investigate like no other to make sure your a fit parent. (and most of the times the parents trying to adopt ARE the most fit parents, ironic huh?)
I can't tell you the number of people that i know that should most def. NOT have had kids. Its sad really.
Thank god i just plain don't want any!!
by the way to those reading my answer when i say "fit" I mostly mean mentally and the reasons for having a child. now as for accidents they will always happen so just to throw it out there its nice to sometime think of crazy ways to stop some ppeople. I don not believe this could ever actually happen

What do you mean "fit?" Technically, I wasn't "fit," but I still conceived. We're struggling financially so I can stay home and care for my son until he goes to school, I have a feeling, that wouldn't be "fit." And how about being "fit" and finding out that the child you conceived will have some sort of genetic problem, which will make you financially "unfit" after s/he is born to care for the child. Then what? And what about the women, who seem "unfit" but actually would turn out to be great mothers. They'd never get that chance. I guess men wouldn't have to prove that they are "fit" to impregnate since they don't have to carry, and possibly, abort, a fetus, No, it's risky and not logical at all.

I actually have said this but not for the abortion issue... This is a very serious problem an in my view and one that has to be considered seriously.
As one that has to operate in a community where I see the results of unplanned parenthood, I absolutely agree with you.

You probably won't like this answer, but I believe that the less we involve the government the better.

Although I loathe government involvment in most things, I think about Brittany Spears' children and Anna Nichole's poor daughter and think that this might be a good idea.

No. The government of a free nation should never have the right to dictate such terms. If you want such regulations, move to China.

Great idea! That could solve a whole lot of problems. Good luck getting it done. Sign me up to help decide who can and can't. I have a few in mind right now.

I'd be in favor of it, but it would be impossible to implement. Most of the fundies would fail the psych exam.
