Doing a 360 on a snowboard is one of the easier tricks in the book, but can be very methodical and has a number of variations.

The reason you can 900 on a trampoline is because you are able to determine the exact timing of the spin and height of the jump before trying it. To 360 on a snowboard is much harder, because you do not know how much air the jump will give you, as well as the fact that you have a piece of wood strapped to your feet.

The first thing you want to determine before trying a 360 is which way you are going to spin. Most people find it easier to start out with front-side or 'FS' 360 spins. If your stance is goofy (right foot forward), you will want to turn clockwise/off your heel edge in order to do a front-side 360. If you are regular (left foot forward), you will want to turn counter-clockwise, which is also off your heel edge.

Once you have determined the way you want to rotate, you have to choose a jump you want to execute the trick on. This is completely up to the rider. Beginners to the trick should start attempting it on 10ft. jumps.

When you are approaching the jump, do NOT speed check. A speed check is where you do a quick stop to slow you down if you think you are going to fast. Speed checking will insure you will not complete the trick. When you begin to ride up the jump, lean on your toe-edge just enough so that you have enough balance to keep your speed up. When you are at the lip of the jump, get good pop into your rotation by shifting your weight to the heel side edge before reaching the end of the jump. This part of the trick is crucial in order to obtain maximum rotation.

Pop off the jump using your heel edge, and lean with your shoulders for momentum. When you are at 270, look through your legs and spot your landing. Doing this prepares you for the impact of the landing and insures you will land safely.

Land on your toe edge/flat based and ride out in style!!

Once you have mastered the trick, this is when you can move on to 540's and 720's. Do the exact same steps, but go faster off a bigger jump and wind up as much as possible for momentum and throw it down!

Have fun!

Get set, ride your rear foot to get steady, pop off with as much push as you can, and turn your head AND shoulders to the side you are rotating. Grab your balls and go for it. If you think about it too much you will bail. Don't look at the ground until you are done rotating. You can do it, it will probably take you a good 5-10 times before you land one.
