. I have a Toshiba Satellite L25-S1216 laptop. I have never had a problem with it, and I've had it about a year now. Last night I was using it earlier, and then i put it down like I usually do. Later that night I went to use it again, and I just lifted up the top, and a message (a black screen with white letters) was on the screen and it said something like "windows could not start up because the following is missing or corrupt:" and then it had some kind of a code. I just pressed the space bar, and the message went away, but now the screen just stays black. I turned it on, and it will turn itself on, then off, then on again. Does anyone know what is going on, and how i can fix it??? thanx for your help!

you need to repair your OS, some vital file on your OS have been corrupted, i supposed you have windows xp. you just need to boot your laptop to cd wile the bootable windows is on the cdrom. wait for the for the selection to load, then choose repair windows xp. mail me if this does not solve your problem.

When my HP did that, it had overheated (groan!!!) Take it to a techie and find out if that's what happened...if so, they'll have to "ghost off" your information and rebuild the computer. I sincerely hope that's *not* what happened to you, but laptops have puny ventilation. (I've had to rebuild mine twice this year.) I wish you much much better luck than I had!
