Its not sterile. Its sterile in the bladder but necessarily as it passes through your urinary tract because you could have infections (i.e. urinary tract infections). Secondly, your urine contains all the things your body needed to get rid of, WASTE MATERIAL, metabolites that have been broken down as far as they could be, toxins, etc. so why would you want to put them back in your body?

Necessary? Not at all. Some people actually think its healthy to do that. Not me. However, it is worth knowing that you can do it, because you might get stranded somewhere without water sometime and having urine to drink might help you survive. It is sterile, you can use it to clean wounds, and it can neutralize some less toxic poisons like some jellyfish stings. Not my cup of tea though. Ha ha.

I don't think it is necessary to drink it unless there's no other source of water. It tastes pretty horrible because of the ammonia but it should be sterile.

Urine contains waste that your body is trying to get rid of. Unless it's an emergency (as has been stated by others here) putting that stuff back into your body will only tax your natural filtration system.

what makes it NECESSARY? and i dont even want to know if you already have. i have heard that it's ok to use to clean a wound or cut because it is sterile and it probably wouldnt harm you if you drank it but very ggggeeeerrrroooouuuusssseeeee!!!

i heard that it is sterile, but has a high sodium content, so its not good for you. i wouldent know if it tastes good cause i haved tryed it...

I heard that too but why is it yellow?? Well mine is clear because I drink water but if it was drinkable...why would we just fluch it down a toilet...drink water...
