Who all watched if Swap last night? Was that not the grossest you've seen? I can't imagine a family eating raw meat. I'm seriously wondering if this is all an act!

Yeah, it seemed very contrived. I generally like the show, but when I saw them down in the nasty, filthy basement pouring milk into unsanitary buckets, and eating raw chicken, that was a bit too much to swallow (pardon the pun). And the dad in hysterics about the woman killing his kids by cooking their dinner was just silly.

I've watched nearly every episode. I think last night went over the top. When the show first started out, they seemed like normal people facing difficulties, more like actually families. The farther the show goes, the more "out there" the couples seem to be. I think last nights tried to prove two things: 1) Iowans are stupid and backwards, 2) Farmers are stupid.

This really upsets me. This is the 3rd time I can think of that they have had a farm family on the show. Each time they have made the farm family out to be dirty, uneducated and seems to show that their kids are used as slaves. Being a farm wife, I totally disagree. My house is very clean, I have a college education and, while my son works on the farm and is paid well for his services, he is also into school sports and very active in the FFA. He has more friends than many people do.

I really think they pay the families well to portray people they are not just so it makes the show interesting and to increase their ratings. After last night, I'm not too sure we will tune into it again.

No, it's not an act. They interviewed the IOwan couple on the news last night. From what the news showed, they had progressed a little since the show, but they had no plan on giving up the bacteria fest. It was disturbing to say the least. When I found out they were from Iowa, I was ashamed. We are already portraid as backward hicks, the last thing we need is to see self-sufficiency, kids whose math skills are limited to counting eggs, and a soviet-era-esque preparedness level. No, not all Iowans are like that. In fact, they are by FAR the wierdest family I have ever seen. We have enough hicks and white trash in the state, we don't need the rest of the country thinking that that's normal for us....... *hangs head in shame*

Raw meat is a cuban speciality, and many other nationalities do it as well. Lots of white Americans also eat raw hamburger meat as well.

All television is scripted to some extent. Even so-called "reality shows".

There's just too much money at stake for them to leave anything to chance.
