he wasnt involved with the xyz affair
people hated him for the fact that he had children with a black women. and that he changed his mind on his values of the politicalness on his own party after the acquistion of the louisana purchase
major things he did as secretary of state helping to set up the government making of the bill of rights using his relations with france to prevent them from jumping the us intowar
vice president he wasnt as successful for that he has own agenda he dissfavored everything the federalist party did
as presidencey the big one would be the louisana purchase which expanded america and the louis and clark expediton which got people interested in the wet. but theres 2 other major things that hurt his presidencey which was the embargo act and the non intercourse act which eventually set the war of 1812 up with britian
