In depth articles on what is really needed to start into the workforce with followup stories demonstrating successes and failures of teens obtaining first time employment.
This used to be taught in high school, but not anymore...they need to know precisely why math and reading skills are important with real life examples.

STI's, teen pregnancy, drug use, drinking...
I have a really good one; ask students what they think about the war and how that differed from their family opinions. It's a good article because it would be interesting to see what the percentage is on how teens today are thinking for themselves on politics and such. However, I would guess that alot of students still use their family opinion instead of deciding on one for themselves.
