I tend to have conversations or arguments with mates or people who are annoying me...who are not infront of me. Soemtimes when I think about a conversation I might have had with them or something they did annoyed me.
Am I the only one doing this? My husband doesnt know anyone else who does it but him and I...there must be some one out there...

yep, i have that all the time, but with me its a case of damn i wish i had said that or this, so i replay the conversation in my mind, and most of the time, once i have thought about what was said, i tend to go back after thinking what was said and working out what i was going to say, i think the reason for this is i would not like saying some thing that i would regret later.

I do exactly the same thing - I usually do it whilst I am driving and must look really siily. I go over a conversation or disagreement and say what I should have said or re-run the whole thing again out loud to myself

Oh yes. I have mental conversations all the time - when I'm doing the school run & the kids aren't in the car, my mind goes off on one. I also talk to myself all the time - which can sometimes be embarassing e.g. when I'm in the supermarket. I don't think I'm a loon.

I thought that it was called talking to yourself. I think that most of us rehearse things that we wish we had said, if only we had had time to think of it. I think that it is an attempt to prepare us for next time. Probably people who do it a lot, tend not to speak their mind, but wish that they had done. Probably a little insecure as well.

Of course we all do, they cannot answer back and we are relieving our concerns by vocalising our problems, and things we are not able to say in the real world which make us feel better. Or we could be practising things we intend to say to gain confidence

No you're not the only one.
I also do this
I do more as well...I end up re-arguing with them if i concentrate too hard on the original argument i had with them to begin with.

Lots of people must do it. I do it sometimes. You're just rehearsing what you're going to say (or what you would say) and it gets it out of your system.
