I love Mardi Gras! I moved from South Louisiana to Atlanta a little over a year ago. I have never done the Metarie Parades. I usually did Parades on Canal. That is where I enjoyed going the. I also loved Spanish Town Parade in Baton Rouge. You are so right, everyone needs to experience one Mardi Gras. It is such a fun time, with great food, and parties, and balls, and getting to know new people. Louisiana is incredible. I miss it there so much. I almost went this past weekend for Mardi Gras but I ended up in Florida instead. Happy Mardi Gras everyone!!!

I think my favorite memory it walking towards Burboun street and hearing the Mardi Gras Mambo or The Second Line! It is so exciting.

I love King Cake too! I had some last week that was shipped from Louisiana and it was mmm mmm good!

First LA parade was Metarie. at the time I was new and surprised how the whole state closed down most of the week for Mardi Gras, Metarie was more inclined towards familys-you never forget the first show me soemthing Mr. you hear and the beads flying around, been on bourbon street to-those one's are fun-but with all the people it;s hard to move and watch your wallet. On bourbon street anything goes...

I used to live near New Orleans, but refused to go DURING Mardi Gras - too many bad scenes! Our little town had our own parade, and the schools closed down so that everyone could enjoy it. I now live too far away and no one here even celebrates - but they sure want me to bring in a King Cake to the office!

i went yesterday. i took my 1 1/2 year old son and my little sister. it was his first time, her second time. we live close to Mobile, so i try to go at least once a year. i got smacked in the forehead with something and it still hurts....lol. I wanted to go today - leave the kids with somebody - the funds weren't looking very good though...oh well, next year.

(sorry, never been to Metarie)
