She needs to have blood work done. Sometimes a woman's body won't produce enough of the pregnancy hormone to be detected by OTC tests, but she may still be pregnant. There may be other causes, as well, such as a hormonal imbalance or she is not getting appropriate nutrition for her body to deem itself healthy enough to have a baby, so she's not having periods. There's a number of reasons for this. This, in and of itself, is more than enough reason for her to go to the doctor.
An abnormal pap means cells were found that could possibly be infected with HPV. She needs to go have additional work done to find out if she has anything to worry about. An abnormal pap in and of itself is only a red flag that there may be a problem. I've had an abnormal pap that, a couple of weeks and another pap later, came back normal. It could be nothing. It could be something.
Your friend is taking a gamble on two fronts that really isn't worth taking.

She could have a cyst or something hormonally that's blocking everything. She needs to see a dr. ASAP to rule out anything serious. Having an abnormal pap doesn't exactly mean there is something wrong. Mine are always abnormal because I have low-grade pre-cancerous cells in my cervix. They just like to monitor the cells, and make sure they don't turn into cancer. That may be the same problem for our friend. Either way, she needs to see a dr. again.

Health is a balancing act, literally; happy /healthy mind results in healthier body.
Your mind set can effect your body functions, far more than you might think.
Aside from Stress, the reason's a woman's menstrual cycle is 'not normal' can be as simple as a lack of sleep or as complex as an ectopic (outside of the womb) pregnancy: with her health being outta bounds anyway (i.e. abnormal Pap); she may not want to know more. If knowing brings more worries, I can see why she'd avoid the issue.
Mayhaps your spoken concern over her well-being, is good for You, but hard for her.
Might be a tad easier to just be a strong listener, she won't forget your act of gentle support, but you'll regret losing your friend if you Nag at her too much.
Best wishes to you both.

There might be something wrong. I had abnormal periods for ages until I went on the pill. I wouldn't get periods for three or four months. Sometimes it can signify a problem though but I think she might have other symptoms as well. Best get it checked out by a doctor anyway.

it could be many things. stress or anything thats delayimg her period. you dont have to be pregnant to miss a period or some. the thyroid is most commonly teh issue with someone not having periods. birth control is alos another factor. An abnormal pap could be anything too. her doctor woudl let her know if it was something to worry about. he should be during further testing to find teh core though

I had a friend in a similar situation. She ended up having an ovarian cyst and had that ovary removed. She actually waited and waited and ended up doubling over in pain at a gas station. She had to go straight to the hospital and if they would have not got to her in time she could have went into shock. She was 25. Just from what I know now and what I have read It could all have been prevented.

I, for sure don't know everything, but I am thinking she might have a sexually transmitted disease. I promise, I am not trying to offend you. Those are scary to have, but common. I would have your friend check around online to see if any of her symptoms sound like an STD. Not having a period for months is not normal unless you are taking birth control. Good luck to you and your friend.
