Back 2001 A-Rod was interviewed by a local sport show. During the interview the topic of Jeter and the Yankees came up. Basically A-Rod said that Jeter was not a major factor on a team filled with super stars. That other teams should not be worried about Jeter beating them but rather the other players on the Yankees.
Up until that point in time both were very good, even best of friends but after that statement Jeter backed off from A-Rod. He never forgot the comments and has pretty much kept his distance. They are "friends" but not like they use to be and do support one another on the field.

The falling out between Alex and Derek happened in 2001 when Alex was quoted in the newspaper saying that Jeter was surrounded by much more talent than he was and that he was better than Jeter. After that the relationship cooled considerably.

Supposedly there was some kind of rift between them when in 2001 Rodriguez said teams don't worry about Jeter beating them. Supposedly this set off some kind of fued. There isn't much going on in the sports world today. So they gotta come up with something.

Jeter hasn't won anything in a while, and he was never the star of the teams that did win. You could have put any SS in the lineup the last 10 years for those stacked teams and should expect at least 4 WS rings.

A-rod just stated in an interview that they are not the friends they used to be, they play as teammates and talk but do they go out to dinner, no. Hey, who cares. You can't expect everyone to get along, it is a job. I have to say that during the brief part of the interview I saw A-rod was respectful and looked tired of the entire issue. The media is just looking for more filler during the off season. Must not be enough happening in spring training with the pitchers, etc.

They are still friends and there never was any fight.
The are just two different people. Jeter is a motivated go getter who is used to winning and strives to be the best he can be at all time.
A-Rod is content with his current ability and rarely pushes himself to be better.
Jeter wants this guy to takeit to another level. And they just don't see eye to eye on that.

There is no indication that there was a fight. This is what sports broadcasters do for a living, they invent things so that people will accept them as truth and want to talk about them. Jeter gets so much tale in NYC I don't know how he has time for a dude friend. They are both getting older and have other interests. I don't know why we have to think there is a "fight". Clearly, you have fallen for a modern journalist ploy, invent an issue and watch the dogs bark.

i personally don't care i respect both of this players a lot i think they should just try to forget and move on and just focus on winning because they team mates and they have to work together so hopefully they will settle this problem b-4 the season starts
