nothing should change, but you're in a business setting, so act like it. after work y'all can hang out just like normal, but at work, treat this person with more respect.

Depends on your friend. I became boss to several of my friends and I've never had any problems. I am quite a nice boss tho. Just treat them the same, I'm sure it will all be fine.

have you ever heard of the Tao of management? best is approximately making advantageous that all people can get the paintings executed, making advantageous that all people is inspired and contributing one hundred ten% (with the objective to speak). that is no longer approximately giving orders anymore - despite the fact that some human beings nevertheless could be led this manner. a real chief is conscious each and all of the group participants' strengths and weaknesses, and distributes and coordinates the paintings for this reason. Even in the Marines drill sergeants are being taught to speak with cadets in a civilized way at present. Years in the past, I study the e book that i discussed and it started my adventure on the path to be being a real chief. You did no longer fail your buddy in any way, yet while she nevertheless values your friendship she would be in a position to take excitement in the advice you would be able to provide her with reference to the version between commanding and best. Any which way, i wish it works out nicely for you. You look to have a sturdy grip on it!

I was in this situation once. I just tackled it early on by pulling him to one side and saying how I felt - which was that what happens in work has no effect on our relationship outside the office.
They've got to treat you like any other employee and you've got to treat them like they're your boss. Being 'friendly' just undermines your boss and annoys everyone else.

This really depends on how much power your friend has over you now. If he treats like the rest of the people, you can be friends with him and do fine. However, if he acts like a snob with his new-found power, dump him as a friend, and hope he can't find a way to fire you. I know it sounds like bad advice, but you don't want to be friends with a power- hungry guy, do you?

My friend is my boss and we don't have any issues. If you both respect each other professionally, there should be no problems.

I am currently in the same situation. Our friendship has not changed. I respect her role as my supervisor and would do nothing to jeopardize her job or my own. We work very well together at work or outside of work.

congratulate him and be very supportive. show him that you are sincerely happy for him. i do not see any problems as long as you show him you respect him as your boss and he respects you as a subordinate.
