After being banned from the majors, Jackson played extensively in semipro leagues in Georgia and South Carolina. In 1929 he and his wife, Katherine, moved to Greenville, South Carolina.

In the 1940s, he was working at his liquor store when former adversary Ty Cobb and sportswriter Grantland Rice entered as customers. Following an impersonal transaction, Cobb asked, "Don't you know me, Joe?" "Sure, I know you," replied Jackson, "but I wasn't sure you wanted to know me. A lot of them don't." [1]

Joe Jackson suffered from heart trouble in his later years and died in Greenville in 1951 at the age of 63. He is buried in Woodlawn Memorial Park there. Jackson's last words before his death were reportedly "I'm about to face the greatest umpire of all and He knows I am innocent."

i might probable have taken it in accordance with my own monetary subject like if I had a tremendous relatives to guard(very consumer-friendly THEN). The gamers have been paid peanuts. Alot of them had different jobs for the period of the off season or purely performed ball on the realm in small cities to make greater money. The gamers than had a thoroughly diverse physique of recommendations in direction of the integrity of the recreation inself. triumphing wasn't as massive of a deal as this is straight away in professional activities. The stress wasn't the comparable on any point of the recreation. the main suitable participant of that era grew to become into Ty Cobb and he gambled on the recreation distinctive situations!! So purely think of all the playing that went on between the gamers themselves. youthful human beings immediately for some reason think of human beings interior the previous days(because of the fact of grandparents) have been all type and straightforward human beings and in basic terms some human beings like Al Capone that they see in video clips have been corrupt. Corruption grew to become into commonly in the back of each "official" employer at one time which includes all varieties of government. No recreation has been greater fixed then Boxing yet another recreation has had their fixes in to boot.
